I'm running with 32 gigs on my Windows 7 partition. Also, I'm running the x86 version of Win7 and my score on the disk rate is crummy.

It also doesn't help if you have a 5400RPM drive that is heavily fragmented.

I installed win7 two weeks ago using the 5400 rpm 320 GB hard drive that came with my MBPRO with a 180 GB bootcamp partition and I had a score of 3.0 for primary hard disk. I just installed it a few days ago on a fujitsu 320 GB 7200 RPM drive with the same size partition and my score is now 5.8. I'm not sure if it's the drives that apple is shipping or the fact that my new drive is 7200 rpm's or maybe it's because this is just beta version of the software. I've read on other forums that these types of scores are common for pc's also...so, just rember were all running a beta OS

Here's my results in Windows 7, on a late Nov/2007 MacBook Pro. Specs are in my sig.

I got 3.0 when I ran the test on 32-bit Windows. My hard drive was the issue, suspect the Intel sata chipset drives didn't install correctly. Even my Intel GMA X3100 garnered a respectable 3.5.

EDIT: Just ran it again on 64-bit Windows 7. I got 3.1 due to piss poor 3D graphics and gaming performance. Sucky Intel GMA X3100 I suppose. On the bright side, my hard drive score is no longer 3.0, but 5.2. I think it's because I installed random drivers on the 32-bit, but did a cleaner set up on the current 64-bit.

Just a quick update. In my earlier posts I stated that I got a 3.3 score on my late model 2.4ghz Macbook on the Primary Hard Disk. Well, I went into "Troubleshooter" and found a few errors where drivers didn't get installed correctly. I was able to fix one that had to do with SM Bus Controller. This seems to have resolved the performance of the hard drive on my system and is now showing a score of 5.2.

I'm still having a problem with getting a driver fix for the co processor though.

I'm still having a problem with getting a driver fix for the co processor though.

On a 2.0 Macbook Unibody I tried the troubleshooter in the new devices and printers and it wasn't able to fix the SM Bus Controller or the Co Processor. So I went to the Nvidia web page and downloaded the nForce 730i drivers and that fixed the SM Bus and Co Processor. Reran my score and got... a big fat 2.0 on the disk again. Refusing to let Windows 7 beat me on this, I uninstalled those drivers as they didn't seem to improve my score. I then tried turning off write caching on my hard drive through device manager and... success! I now get a 5.4 on my primary disk score. My system is now smoking fast so I'm scared to make any more changes to it! If I'm feeling adventurous I might reinstall the nForce drivers to get rid of those two question marks in device manager, but for now it seems to work fine.

Had a feeling that had something to do with it. : sighs: Looks like I will be trying to add more space to the existing partition using gParted this week. Out of 21GB partition, only have 2.58GB left. I'll probably shift the partition to 32GB (like Boot Camp recommended to me in the first place. : crosses fingers: I hope I don't break anything.

Well I ended up partitioning 40GB instead of 32, leaving with 21.4GB left after OS and program installs. My current score is 4.9. The rest are exactly the same as they were with my last 2 Indexes. This is weird to say the least.

I have a MacBook Pro 17" (with Hi-res), 4 GB ram, 2.5Ghz, 512 MB video and a 5600 RPM HD

My rates are:

Processor: 5.9
Memory: 5.5
Graphics: 5.5
Gaming graphics: 5.0
Primary hard disk: 3.0

This is still Beta so no one assumed that WEI could gives wrong results/does not work properly ;-)

1st gen macbook air

First gen macbook air (1.6Ghz, 80Gb Pata) Only scores 3.5, but the 3,7 score for 1.6Ghz core duo processor seems not correct. Anyone else with the same laptop?

On a 3 year old Thinkpad T60 with 1GB of RAM and a ATi X1400 I get a 3.1

How long does it take for this to run? I know it says "may take a few minutes", but after about 15min of the progress bar not moving I cancelled it. It got about 50% done and then wouldnt go any farther.

Yeah, that's not right. Should take around 5 or so minutes.

The HDD results are definitely off, it shows mine at 2.8 while Vista gave it a 5.1.

Mid 2007 MacBook Pro, upgraded to 4GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive. I think I remember before I upgraded the hard drive I was getting around 2.0 on Vista so maybe Windows doesn't like the stock Apple hard drives.

The Vista and Windows 7 WEI range has changed. Vista is from 1.0 - 5.9 while Windows 7 goes from 1.0 - 7.9. The numbers in Vista are still somewhat still comparable to 7, but the disk test has changed drastically. This is why so many people see a much smaller disk performance number. It seems they have added additional tests to the disk section that were not present under Vista.

In other words, you shouldn't have to worry much about your disk performance number since it's rather meaningless to compare with Vista numbers.

A score that low for the processor could mean that the CPU is getting throttled down due to heat when pushed.

I wouldn't quite say that. The changes they added seemed to address the complaints with small writes, probably the 4k blocksize writes that a lot of drives don't handle very well. If your number dropped significantly from Vista to W7 chances are it's due to slow 4k writes.

This was a good change. Too many drives were getting 5.0 and above scores and then performing horribly in practice on Vista. The SSDs with Jmicron controllers come to mind.

disabling write cache through device manager made my 5400 rpm hard drive go from a 2.0 to a 4.7.

desktop performance for windows aero is now my lowest score. says its 3.5. my gaming graphics is 4.0 though so not sure why aero graphics is lower it shouldnt be.

Macbook Unibody 2.0ghz

I get an index 4.4 bc of 3d performance....

CPU: 5.4
RAM: 5.5
Desktop Graphics: 5.2
Gaming Graphics: 4.4
HD: 5.4

To get your HD to have a higher score you need to go into your device manager open the HD properties and go into policies, then untick "enable write caching on the device" this will pull you out of the 2.0 score.

I saw this on another post.... sorry for not giving the proper props, and sorry if someone already posted the solution.

2008 MAC PRO score

I get the following scores:

Processor: 7.7
RAM: 5.6
Graphics: 7.9
Gaming Graphics: 6.0
HD: 5.4

BASE SCORE: 5.4

Windows 7 runs great taking into account that I put a 2 year old WD HD to run it on my Mac Pro.

CPU: 5.1
RAM: 5.4
Desktop Graphics: 5.1
Gaming Graphics: 6.3
HD: 5.4

Not bad but not good?

Shame too I thought my graphics would be better.

on my first gen macbook(specs in sig) i get a 2.0 it says because of the hard disk but hey it runs pretty good so far

proc=4.3
ram=5.1
graphics=3.6
gaming graphics=3.2
hard disk=2.0

Same here, running it via VMWare Fusion
