Power Adapter doesn't work

It was working and all of the sudden the amber light went off and I tried unplugging it from the wall and plugging it back in and nothing worked. I also tried different outlets. Am I screwed? Do I need to buy another adapter?

hurry I only have 12% battery life left!! I need to know the answer haha

well I just realized there is a slight tear in my cord. I have it situated perfectly now though so that it works. I think I am going to have to buy another adapter anyway.
