And again:

Can anyone confirm that the connectors are PHYSICALLY compatible, not just that they carry the same amount of power?

I've seen a lot of people say it's the same wattage, but no one has yet confirmed that the actual physical pin layout and size and such are compatible.

for MBP

I echo above question, and I don't think the link answers the new MBP PHYSICAL (not watts) question.

Does the (now) old 85 watt charger physically fit the new space? Similarly have 2 old ones (home, work) and don't want to buy yet another... and my MBP is stuck in Shanghai.

I don't like the new adapter; I just ordered a new one from Best Buy that's the old one.

Thanks, but I'm looking for the 60w 13" MBP version. Anyone have that model number?

Buy the 85W model; they are the same price and the 85W adapter works on all MacBooks, MacBook Airs, and MacBook Pros; down the line if you buy a MacBook Pro, you can still use your old adapter. If you buy the 60W MacBook adapter, then down the line it may become useless.

Yes, same input, just it's now angled, not a straight plug.

Got a new 17" - is it ok to use the new power adapter on the mid-2009 base 13"?

Yes you can use the new 85W adapter in the mid 13", the ratings on good adapters doesn't mean they constantly output at max, just that it can go that far if needed.

check the first q&a near the bottom.

Can confirm that the older white MagSafe plug works in the new MBPs, have tried it on mine. Much prefer the new design, also like how the lead feels a bit more rigid. After my first one started showing exposed wires near the base, they seemed a bit too soft.

Thanks. I like the new design - looks and feels more robust, but only time will tell!

I thought about that. But I have a 13" and would like the smaller 60w power adaper for portability.

Soo....anyone have the model number? Look on the power adapter itself.

i don't like the new adaptor because it gets pushed out slightly by the speck hard cover case, and if you turn it the other way it covers up some ports. I just bought an older style for my older mpb, and it works on the new one, so I think I will use the older model, until it stops working.

I also don't like the new one. If my accident, the cable is pulled from the direction where the cable goes, the magnet will not disconnect and the MBP flies on the floor. Not really clever from Apple.
