Hi guys I purchased a MacBook Air 2014 13inch with 8gb ram i7 cpu 256gb ssd for £250 the MacBook is in very good condition like hardly any signs of being used etc... only issue is that the power button doesn’t work and the battery has been removed so when I plug it into charge it boots up but it is slow for some reason I am guessing as it has no battery. Now I want to buy a new battery but I was wondering if I purchase a external apple keyboard that has a power button will it switch it on?

I don’t know of a way to boot a modern Mac from the keyboard. You would likely need to replace the whole keyboard. You can still boot though, usually by opening the case and shorting two pads on the logic board or pins in the keyboard ribbon. I’ve done this in the past but it’s not really a solution, just a stop-gap.

Nah I rather just put a new battery in boot it up and keep it in sleep mode and maybe switch it off every once a month or something. But do u think £250 is worth it for the MacBook?
