I spilled some black coffee on my MacBook Air 13's keyboard (Early 2014) several days ago. After popping the back off, disconnecting the battery, cleaning up the coffee and letting it dry for several days I was able to get the laptop up and running by disconnecting the battery and plugging in the power cable.

When the laptop is on, the power button is working very inconsistently. About an hour ago it wouldn't work to turn on the laptop, but it would otherwise work. It would work to do an SMC reset, and it would work while the laptop was on. (press once to sleep, press once to wake, hold to bring up power options).

Now, however, when I press the power button once it will sleep or turn off the laptop, not sure which, but the laptop won't come back on unless I pull the battery and plug in the power.

One other thing to note is that I had this laptop fixed under warranty for a power button issue before any liquid damage occurred. I THINK the off site repair people ended up replacing the logic board.

What about this time? What do you think I'll have to do to get this power button functioning properly again?

Check if the battery connector is secured in properly. Next time this happens, try reconnecting the battery and turning it on without plugging, or ideally try with another battery.

But truth be told, you can never know for sure what's causing what when it comes to liquid damage...
