to my dismay no power button on tb display

ok so is there any workaround to power down ONLY ONE monitor

i only need 2nd display when editing video and otherwise would rather have display off

unplugging power or tb cable = full system reboot to bring back online...

also causes dysfunction in boot sequence and forced hard reboots -

as a result....all in all the tb display is a POS and a failure of apples - if its a limit of tb technology they should state it up front. if its a design choice they are lost

bootcamp/windows is this true for me

you are correct. i should have clarified...

lame because i am in bootcamp more often

i'm not using windows atm, but i know i've put my laptop in clamshell by disabling the internal display from window's display preferences, it's on the screen where you change resolutions etc (say right click on desktop, display preferences) something like that.. fairly sure you could do the same with the external display, you just select to use only this monitor or something of that nature... sorry i can't give you step by step instructions atm..
