probably due to my grotty fingers

has anyone found a way to clean the cable back to new or is this permanent?

Probably just due to daily wear and tear. You could probably put bleach on a cotton ball and clean it! I'm not sure though lolav

Is it going brown near the MagSafe? If so its damaged and the heat is causing it to go brown. Replacement is my advice.

If it's just "normal" grime I would suggest using denatured alcohol and a paper towel/cloth to remove it.

na its a general yellowish it happened with my last one, i wish apple designed it better

thanks for the input
I gave you your answer, Windex will clean it.

You blamed Apple For this issue, but it's 100% your fault. Just wash your grimy hands and your cord will stay white like the rest of ours.

if it's brown/yellow near the joint then it's probably needing replaced.

if the entire cable is dirty then just give it a wipe down. i'd probably use rubbing alcohol. or just a wet cloth. it might not remove discolouration but no big deal.

There was a recent thread about this. Happens to a lot of apple cables. Has nothing to do with dirty hands.
