So I picked up this B/W PowerMac G3 with a Sonnet Tech G4 1GHz upgrade and OS X 10.4.10 for a friend.
When I turn it on the fans come on and I can hear the HDD spin up and I get the startup chime. The screen stays blank and nothing else happens. I can open and close the Cd tray.
If I reset the PRAM (remove power and battery, press the power button and let sit for 10 minutes) I get one solid boot out of it and everything runs fine. There appears to be no problems when I look in System Profiler.
The computer did not come with the OS X install disks but does have the Disk Image files for os 9.1 and 9.2.1.
I replaced the battery with a new one today, that did not resolve the problem.
What do I do next?
