Power Mac G4 Cube speakers on an imac

Hi,

My granddad found some old g4 cube speakers. you know the round ballish ones. they used to connect to a cube with usb. you could just plug it in and they would work. My granddad now has a imac g5. he wants to connect his cude speakers to his imac. is this possible, if so how? do i need some kind of software?

I believe they won't work - if they are "proper" G4 cube speakers they require higher current than a normal USB can provide.

The Cube used higher current USB than normal.......

If I am wrong - can someone correct me, please.

Griffin made an adapter called the iFire. Not sure if it's still available.

They will work, but the volume level won't be as high.

I can confirm that the cube's speakers work with my 24" Imac 2.8!

Beatifull sound.. Way better then the speakers in the Imac.. 🙂
