Resolved Power Mac G5 7800 GTX 512mb

Hi everyone, not been a member here long but I am in desperate need of some help and/or direction :confused:

I own a DC 2.0 Power Mac G5 and it had a 6600 128mb graphics card which subsequently died the other day. I have gone ahead and bought a Dell 7800 GTX 512mb graphics card with the intention of flashing it.

I have no problem with the flashing procedure itself, I am having trouble locating a ROM for it. At first I thought I could flash the Quadro FX 4500 2149 retail ROM but later found out that the Quadro FX 4500 ROM needs HEX editing which I cant locate a guide for the procedure. Ideally, if at all possible I would like somebody to provide me with the ROM file but in the meantime I am trying to make headway myself.

I've contacted japamac through his website to see if he could provide me with the ROM and am still awaiting a response. I realise the guy is busy so i'm trying to do the work myself. Does anyone have a link to a guide to hex edit the Quadro FX 4500 ROM to work on the 7800 GTX 512mb.

Any help is massively appreciated guys. Thanks for looking.

EDIT: This issue has been resolved thanks to japamac, he contacted me.

I recently recover a G5 ppc quad 2,5 with a nvidia 6600
I am trying to boost it, i start with the easiest, I mean adding the Max of RAM
a faster HDD -
for the video I'm blocked, I have bought today the same card You discribe

You will need to flash the card's BIOS to a MAC one. That card will have be a PC one and wont work as it stands right now.
First you will need to contact japamac here to request the ROM file you need to flash to ithe card. Please make sure you have the 512mb first though.
Second you will need to visit The Mac Elite to read up how to setup a bootable USB stick with all the necessary files to boot into DOS and it will also tell you how to use 'NVFLASH' (the flashing utility)

I feel your pain mate but I don't have it anymore, and they don't just like people handing that ROM file out. You must contact Japamac and he will sort you out.
I didn't end up using it as the card I had was the 256mb model, I was sold it on ebay as the 512mb but when i received it, it was the 256mb model so the ROM was useless to me.
I then went ahead and purchased the Quadro FX 4500 512mb card and flashed it with the OEM ROM from 'The Mac Elite.
So as I said contact Japamac, he'll give you what you need.

As for the power you'll need this which connects to the top of the motherboard just behind the front speaker.

I am also in search of a suitable ROM file for my 7800 GTX 512mb but the download you posted doesn't work anymore.
Do you still have a copy of this file somewhere ?

Given that they have not logged in for 6 months, I doubt they will reply. Why don't you contact Colpeas.
