Definitely worth a shot. With Click To Flash it stops all Flash from running until you specifically click on it. In conjunction with AdBlock, you get a clean web environment with only the Flash that you want!

I'm posting this now using this combination, and it's definitely made a difference in how useable my G5 is on the web.

Thanks for this tip on this!

UPDATE!

I installed the SSD and increased the ram up to the max 8 gig.

BIG improvement!

I also plan to upgrade the video card.

I am also replacing the original optical drive which stopped working a few years back. That will be it.

Should get me a few more years out of the old G5.

How much did the RAM and SSD cost you and what model SSD did you go with? The optical drive does not have to be an Apple part but must be able to have the bezel removed.

Typically the bezels does not have to be altered in a G5 for it to operate correctly.

I mean the bezel on the tray itself, not on the drive. With the bezel on, it would sometimes interfere with the aluminum sliding door on the insert cycle. I always had to remove the tray bezel but not the bezel of the drive.

My post was referring to the tray bezel as well. Most if the drive trays operate the door without it having to be removed. Sadly optical drive bezels and trays aren't standardized much.

I guess it is just my luck that I had to remove the tray bezel every time for both of my G5s (6 drives in total).

The total cost was just under $250.00.

Value is in the eyes of the beholder...
Far be it from me to say how money should be spent, but if you give me $250, I'm picking up a used Mac Pro. Thats why I assumed there must be some personal connection to that particular G5 as it was never even a top end system in its time. To each their own of course.

I would probably do the same if given $250 in my pocket.
