Hey, I am looking at buying a Molar Mac and talking to the guy when he tries to turn it on there is no chime or video or power light. I know these can have some issues so does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong or if it's even worth getting? The guy wants $300 which is way too much it's been on Facebook for over a week the case is in good shape I think as it sits $100 is all it's worth.

IIRC(been a while since I played with mine and it's in storage) you must have an ADB keyboard to power it on. The switch on the back is a PSU "kill switch", but it will only actually boot if you hit the on button on an ADB keyboard.

In the absence of a keyboard, you CAN short pin 2 on the ADB plug to ground(I think-double check before trying!) to mimic the power on signal.

They can be worth quite a bit if working. Don't know about not working. But as I understand the Molar Mac is quite sought after for collectors. Due to relative rarity.

I'd say the most likely need it has is recapping. At least that's my experience with older 68K Macs. I'm not much of a PowerPC collector. Mostly because there's only a couple I want and they cost way too much. The AV NuBus PowerPC are hard to get. I already have an iMac G3 and Power Mac G4. Wouldn't mind a B&W.

These are unfortunately worth well over that amount. I’d buy that immediately working or not if it was local to me.

As far as not turning on, that could be anything. It is a Beige G3 after all, and they are all extremely finicky. A bad or unliked RAM stick will cause this. And for all we know, the seller doesn’t know how to power it on properly. I think these have a power switch on the back, but you still have to press the power button on an ADB keyboard.

And I was afraid the PSU died on mine. Thanks for the reminder about the keyboard power button!
