I got my new 2019 iMac set up today - my first 27" iMac after a few 21.5", don't know why I didn't get the larger one sooner! This is also my first time with a wireless keyboard (got the version with the number pad) and trackpad. Is it advisable to flip the power switches on the keyboard and trackpad off if I'm not going to use them for a while (however I want to define "a while")? Or won't it noticeably impact the battery life? They're on a keyboard shelf that slides under my desktop, so my cats aren't going to be accidentally stepping on them . . .

I just leave them on ... they consume very little power when not being used. Plus, they stay paired for quick startup when you next go to use them.

I always leave my keyboard and Magic Mouse on. I have an iMac at work. When school is out for the summer we have to unplug everything and I turn them off then. I go a couple of months before I need to charge them.
