My MBP when running without being connected to a power supply runs very smooth, a Logic project running at 50% CPU has fan speeds around 2000 RPM. As soon as I connect the power supply the fan speed shoots up to 4000+RPM. Disconnecting it again brings it back to 2000 RPM in about 2 minutes so clearly there is a connection here. Or a bad one at that. It also seems that the 'memory controller' in iStat increases the most in temp when connected, not sure what this means. Anybody have an idea what could be going on? Could it be a voltage leak as it seems to run hotter when connected too. I have reset SMC, NVRAM, PRAM and reinstalled leopard twice. Resetting the PRAM seemed to have helped slighty but there are still clear signs that there is a problem. Alternative chargers and plug points have been tried too which rules them out as far as I'm concerned. Any ideas? Thanks.
