I have:
APP1 I keep in the car and use regularly if I forget other buds while out and about
APP2 I keep at home and use as the normal go to
PBP1 x 2 That I rotate with my gym bags
PBP2 that just arrived
The PBP1s are no contest for seal, loudness, and bass compared to APPs. The instances where I've found myself running with APPs, I'm constantly pushing them in or fiddling with them for the seal. After awhile, the seal is broken and I'm not getting the full punch of the music. Also, I doubt my APP2s would have lasted my full marathon at full blast. the PBP1s battery life carried me through.
My biggest gripes with the PBP1s are the bulky case, periodic connectivity issues if I take a bud out and put it back in without docking it first, and the lack of ANC.
The PBP2s right off the bat sounded great, fit perfect with the right tip, and compared to the PBP1s are noticeably smaller and lighter. Wearing a PBP1 on one ear and a PBP2 on the other, the PBP1 feels ever present, while the PBP2 feels barely there. I don't perceive ear fatigue will be an issue. I can't wait to test them on a run and in the gym. The case is still too bulky, but it's quite a bit smaller than the case for the old version. ANC works great. Connectivity issues will be the thing to watch out for.
