With the charging case being the size of small car (lol), I was hoping to use it only to charge the Beats. For carrying around all day, I hoped to use a smaller case that fits in my pants pocket. This is bad news if the Beats discharge, while unused, so quickly. That means that we will indeed need to have the Beats in the case much more than I had planned.

I just picked mine up today, so I will be watching this too, over the next few days.

Any updates on this? I also planned on using the case just to "charge" and leave it at home in the morning. So in effect I would have the headphones with me all day at work and charge it again when I come home at night. But if it loses this much standby battery, I might need to have the case with me at all times.

Just bought a pair today and it went from 92% drain to 82% in 2 hours. They have been sitting on my desk in front of me at work and never disturbed during those two hours. Using the iPhone's Today View widget on the home screen to keep track of battery life.

Having this problem. The powerbeats keep getting charged while in the case even at 100 percent and its draining the case. Idk what to do

The problem being described is exactly the same on Airpods 2. They're just constantly draining battery whether in the case or out of it. Leaving it in the case masks the problem because the case is constantly recharging them, but the problem shows up with how much the case is draining all day. With the AirPods out of the case, the case doesn't drain at all. Apple needs to fix this.

Also wondering if Find My iPhone has anything to do with the drain. Has anyone tried turning that off for the Airpods to see if the problem went away?

That’s the case with every TW ... don’t like it then you’re out of luck tbh.

No. You actually can’t use fine my iPhone for the AirPods unless you’re using them. If you do it when it’s in the case it will just show you the last place you used them

If I don't pair AirPods with an Apple device, they dont drain all night in their case. If I pair them to an Android phone, they dont drain all night in their case. No TW earbuds I've owned do that. Just AirPods. And just when they're attached to my Apple account.

Mine is 1 day old, and I was curious with this as well. How to turn this off when not in use. And yes, I dont want to keep putting it in the case coz it will just charge even though it doesnt need to. So Im guessing if I disconnect the bluetooth will that off the device? But you will need to put em back in the case and open the lid to connect again?

Or can I turn the power on by pressing the button?

-------------

So I have tried to disconnect it on my phone. Will see if there will be a a significant batt loss still. Though Im not sure if its totally disconnected coz I can still see the batt percentage when checking the widgets

Just like the AirPods, there is no off button. If left out of their case, they'll drain rapidly regardless of Bluetooth being enabled on your phone.

I see. Been using jbl’s for a long time and got used to having on/off button and it does save the power no matter how long i havent used it. Also pm’d Beats fb page and they also suggested that i should put it back in case to turn off. Then i asked about the batt wont it affect the life span. They did answer that batts dont work that way. And considered safe.

Loving my PBPro so far. Hope this issue wont bite as days goes by using it.

Thanks for the reply

Did this work for you?

My Powerbeats are a day old, and I noticed that they drained when I was asleep. [They were at around 70% charge before I went to sleep. When I woke up, the left one was at around 50%, and the right one was at 13%.]

I suspect that it’s because they’re always connected. I’ll try disconnecting the earphones before sleeping tonight to see if they’ll still drain.

I reached out to the fb page of PBP and they said that in order to disconnect is to put the PBP back inside the case. Also mentioned that wont that affect the batt of the unit even its not yet time to charge. They said batts dont wont that way anymore. It wont affect whatsoever charging earbuds even youre not suppose to yet.

However case does drain power even if the rarbuds are already at 100%. But drains not that much that it bothers me.

Thanks for getting back to me!

I was with Apple Support earlier today, and they told me the same thing. To turn the earbuds “off”, I’d have to put them in the case. Which isn’t ideal for me, since, even if they say it’s OK, I’m still wary that I’d be wearing out the battery unnecessarily.

My thoughts exactly. However im giving the benefit of the doubt. Hoping that its not going to be the case (batt quality declining or whatever you call this issue). Im still liking the product. Im in Bali now for work for 3 nights and my flight is today. Haven’t charged my PBP yet and it did held up its reputation. I just put the earbuds back in the case when im not using it. Earbuds always at 100% when im about to use them and the case is at 30% as of now from 100% 3 days ago.

So it did pass my test with flying colors.

Received my PB Pro in June. When retrieving the left earbud from the case it would intermittently not work. Put back in the case and awhile later working again. About a month ago I realized that I could check the charge on the earbuds and the case. What I found is that intermittently, even while in the case, and with the case fully charged, the left earbud would discharge to zero. Happens about 1 of 5 retrievals from the case. Went to apple. Sent to repair. They did a five second look and sent it back. Extremely disappointed. I have about 6 sets of battery powered bluetooth headsets, cheap to expensive and have never had a problem. Now I have a $250 set of bluetooth earbuds that are so unreliable I wish I could send them back. Apple needs to step up their game.

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. Left ear bud drained to zero. But only happened to once. Hopefully wont happen again. But agree this aint cheap. They do need to step up the game.

They just added Apple care plus which I got because if the battery died and it will it will cost $30 not $79+ ( AirPods are $79 so at least that )

Noticing the same behavior here. Typical Apple over-simplification. Would not be that hard to add a long press to turn them off. But noo... wouldn't be surprised if the next iPhone didn't have a power button either.

Same here .. from 85% to 73% in 160min, thats equivalent of powerbeats pro having a standby time of 23hrs

AND THEY ADVERTISE 100Hrs standby time

Got mine yesterday and charged them to 100% and played around with them briefly before going to bed.

Left them out of the case.

When I got up this morning (about 6 hours later), the battery was down to 76%. I did a 34 min elliptical workout with podcasts playing and battery went down to 70%.

So, the drop from 76 to 70 is fine. I'm concerned about the overnight drop from essentially 100 to 76 with them just sitting outside the case.

I left them out of the case when I left for work this morning and will check what they are when I get home in the evening.

Anybody else seen similar behavior? They were sitting next to my Mac, but I hadn't actually paired them with the Mac yet, so I'm not sure if that would cause the drain.

Thanks.

Completely disappointed. Left out on desk 100% - 2 days later dead as doornail, outside the box - no option to turn off completely. Pwhaaa?

1. Why does the product use "any" battery life just sitting? Regardless of a lust for spying technology now desiring to constantly hear gum being chewed interspersed with lips smacking, mid-chewing belches, gum-chomping and the occasional sharing of corporate corruption epiphanies between trusted confided-in humanoids, the product should either include BOLD directions re: turning them off, or a time-delayed "off" feature. Critics rave about the Powers superior battery life, huh?

2. Case is the size of a Vdub Bug, inconvenient.
Information on the constant brick-sized case hauling annoyances and requirements are not readily accessible to novice instruction and product agreement readers like me. SPELL IT OUT Apple. Stop inventory-clearing mis-messaged hype of otherwise mediocre failed products.

Both annoyances initiating my returning of these Powers today are NOT graciously advertised. They're equally-culpable, omitted drawbacks misleading product descriptions from 10's of reviews I read at first. If so, these shortcomings were delicately-worded trickery, deception reminiscent of an MBA corporate director's chosen-from-above secret education and the financial industry's, in general, FINANCIAL TRICKERY, the virtual mocking of the laymen's duped manufactured freedom. This divisive deception for all but very few "chosen" people even excludes the 20-million-dollar-net worth families, this greedy plot is implemented omnipresently.

It's disgusting,
1. Why are these more expensive than Beat Fit Pros when they're unequipped with noise-cancellation and transparency modes? Don't pretend the Apple chip would render the Powerbeats sky-highly unaffordable either. Japan has smartphone technology years ahead of us.

Beats Fit Pro have all the superior audio tech denied to the Powerbeats, yet they cost less. The Powerbeats have shoot-level audio and the Apple chip. But again, the whole roll-out and endless following iterations are planned, designed around delightfully fudging us, this time tricked based around the discount. 249 down to 149 for Powerbeats, and the fits steady at 199 with no holiday sale discount. Can anyone see how we're specifically led to slaughter here: ultimately the audio tech and features are considerably more valuable requiring a bigger ticket price over the Powers, yet the chip is supposed to be the big costly revelation?

And "almost" no one from initial quick-referenced reviews mentions this, and thinly if so at all.

-Fits are a new Yamaha R1 designed around performance and handling. A new Aston Martin
-Powers are a '96 Chevy Lumina, a loud leaky HUGE knock-off Honda Shadow humming along like a sewing machine. , with a blackberry taped to its rusted bulbous pregnant motorcycle trailer. They drive like a couch.

The sightings inspired laughter and disgust - the blackberry sitting atop the trailer in MotoTrailer ads mirror the Apple chip. Useless but for schmucks intrigued by the word Apple and some, even I until today, enamored by dreams of a lackadaisical world busy busty at doing nothing.

The rigged-to-fail trailers separated 300 miles in the opposite direction.

Was a good night time read. Thanks for sharing. Especially liked the 97 M3 comparison.

Thanks, just really disappointed after stringing 149 together, excited for the deal, having spent all my year's savings on everyone else I know. Ha, useless American junk from China's 2016 mega shops/ops . CS
