Hi guys,

i just destroyed my logic board of the A1139. I could not open the Connector for the small ribbon keyboard cable and used too much force, so the plastic ZIF cable lock got destroyed. Sure, after 20 years the plastic was not in really good condition but it was clearly my fault.
In order to fix it I then did it worse . . . now I need to sell the A1139 in parts or get a replacement LB.
PS: what do you guys think, is a replacement of a ZIF lock possible? Do you know good shops for this kind of repair?

Anyone selling a functioning LB of an A1139 ??? Pls contact me.

I'm based in Germany.

Thanks a lot.

You could try to find a suitable replacement ZIF connector from a donor board I think. But I'm not quite sure what the exact part would be... and I don't think the schematics are out for these DLSD PowerBooks. As for someone who could do the repair you could either learn to do hot air soldering/surface mount soldering with the right equipment, though that would also require you to practice on boards that you don't care about. I would strongly recommend finding someone in your area who is willing to do that repair. They might even know more about what ZIF connector you need.

Thank you. I'm trying to get a donor board. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get an answer from a local Apple repair shop concerning the repair of PowerBooks.

If your A1139 has the 820-1810 logic board, then there are schematics online. The connector for the flex cable that goes to the trackpad is a Molex 54550-1494.
