Thanks Yinyang, I hadn't seen that - great to see they've fixed that up. Still reluctant to buy a battery because I probably won't use it enough, but good to know the option to get an identical one is there.

See my signature for my Mac. I get about 2:45 if I have everything going crazy with the screen brightness up. If I'm in a dark room with the screen dimmed and the keyboard lit up I get about 3:45. I always have WiFi on and Bluetooth off.

That's pretty much what I get too, a bit less usually due to the smaller 15" battery. But good to see that the 17" holds its own in battery life too, especially with a nice 58 Watt-hour battery.

With the 15" 1.5GHz ...

... I get about 3.5 hours with wifi / bluetooth off.

About 3 hours with wifi on.

This is on default brightness / energy settings.
