What does that mean?
Edit: Not so much what it means as in I'm a moron, but as in yes that's weird but does that mean that it's not supported for the Powerbook?
If means the OCZ site is way less functional than it should be -- I looked and couldn't find the configurator, so I searched and found nothing, and I went to Products: Upgrade Memory: Apple menu and they didn't list it there. It wasn't until i went back to the site a second time that I actually found the link to the configurator page. Just poor site design. Ya I know (now) that there is a graphical button on the right for the configurator, but that illustrates the phenomenon that is something looks like a banner advertisement (in size, position and/or graphic look), many web viewers will automatically skip over it and not even see it.

You are correct that OCZ recommends that part number for the Powerbook DL (HD screen) models.

So from your personal experience, would you recommend me buying this RAM?

well i got my 1 gb stick of ram and i already installed it. i haven't noticed that much of a difference in performance. i put the 1 gb stick in the already open slot. should i switch the 512 stick with the 1 gb stick? or does that really matter? any tests i should run on it, just to make sure everything is working right?

anyone have any suggestions?

I have no experience with the quality of the OCZ Value line, only their performance RAM, so I can't say. Since they recommend it as being compatible with the Powerbook, then it should be fairly safe to try. I still prefer the Samsung genuine modules, or Transcend modules with Samsung chips, but they are more expensive ($144) than you are seeing the OCZ for ($108).

Make sure you ahve a lifetime warranty, and that you know the return policies of the seller, especially if they propose to charge you a restocking fee if the RAM doesn't work. Choose a seller in Canada rather than importing over the border, because you'll lose any savings to shipping and customs brokerage.

Thanks,
Trevor

Anyone have tried this module from Crucial CT12864AC53E (Crucial DDR2 SO-DIMM 1024MB CL4 Non-ECC,1.8V,128Mx64,200p DDR2 PC2-4200)

I've tried Corsair (Value DDR2 SO-DIMM PC4200 1024MB Unbuffered, Non-ECC, 128Megx64, CL4), but machine don't boots properly.

My nearby store also have Kingston Value series, but seems like many have had problems with it.

I bought 1 GB from Data Memory Systems and it has worked fine so far, no problems (I have a total of 1.5 GB)

Will replacing the 512 MB with 1 GB for a total of 2 GB make a huge difference. The difference between 512 MB and 1.5 GB has been huge in terms of performance. I'm debating on whether or not to buy some more.

be the right RAM to go in a QUAD power mac?
It is the correct nominal spec (DDR2 533 MHz). We can't tell if it will be compatible or not. It looks to be a bizarre 32-chip construction - never seen anything quite like it in a 1 Gb DDR-2 DIMM. Make sure the vendor will take it back for refund (not just credit) without restocking or shipping charges. You'll need two, of course.

ok cheers i mean its seems to be really cheap in comparison to others iv looked at, (what i can get hold of) and i spose il just haveto look into a little more

cheers anywhoo
