Hey all,

My PowerBook doesn't always make the boot sound. Seems like 1 in 10 boots, it doesnt do it. I see no problem with performance or stability.

What could be causing this? Yes I did upgrade the RAM with Kingston KTA-PB533/1G , which mobel.com tells me is the most compatible. We have had no problems with this RAM in the shop, so I don't think the RAM could be causing it.

Also, I can the AHT about a week ago to see if there was a problem with my fans, all came back good.

Any ideas?

Yes, Apple laptops load the volume setting prior to chime. So if you had the volume set to one bar you get a quiet chime, and if the volume was all the way up, you get a loud chime.
