Hey Xero, that's a nice bag!

I've got a real nice Gravis backpack (it might be 04/05, i got it at a Burton pre-preseason sale :p ) which included a sleeve that fits my Powerbook like a glove. It's got tons of compartments too, great for cables/iPod/digital camera (i need to get one first though). I hope it's going to hold up well as a travelling computer/meth lab (just kidding about the meth) because it's going to be my school bag too.

I carry just my PowerBook,4G iPod,Mase(incase some jerk tries to steal my gear lol) in my new orange Crumpler Wee Bee(these bags are great!) and my new Macally BTMouseJR should be coming in this week:D

I cant believe everyone has forgotten this essential:

  • 10 foot pole

You do know that the powerbook wont be able to keep away the throngs of fans that'll want to come and look at the beauty right?

•canon scanner or canon i80printer (rarely travel)

I've had a powerbook now for a few months now, and have slowly stocked myself up with accessories and necessities.

I thought it would be cool to make a post about what things your consider essential to your portability and your laptop.

•Commuter bag from Timbuk2
•Marware keyboard protector

What does everyone else carry around with their laptops?

I have one I think they are great. Super strong and padded. Keeps the 15" snug inside. But I think you should get a Screen protector tho. There is room for text books. I sometimes carry a scanner with mine. I difinately recommend it.

Gotta Get the Macally Bluetooth Mouse....excellent.
ShaggyMac screen laptop protectors and iklear - http://www.shaggymac.com
apple pro keyboard and Griffin iCurve
a slip-case of some sort - I use the Targus - cheaper and better than many.

To totally geek out you gotta get a SE T-610 cell phone and use it as a bluetooth modem for a wireless dialup connection anywhere. (i use it with T-Mobile)

Amen, and with T-Mo you get free GPRS...

Free internet, anywhere you want.

Btw -- I've gotten lots of ideas for things I'd like to get, I wish I had the money to get another laptop bag. I wish I could justify one of those Acme Bags I really like those.

Alte22a,
I really like my Timbuk2 bag, it's very very durable. My bag has taken the trip from front seat to floor several times, and all is ok in it. Lots and lots of pockets and storage areas.

You could probably fit 2 full size text books in there with notebooks. I can take some pics. I'll post them tomorrow.

Mobi,
I have Cingular, and had been using my T616 with my PB15, but this month I went to go use it and it didn't work. Any idea if the settings are similar between T-Mobil and Cingular.

I kept getting these two errors on my phone.

and its gonna be slow as $h|t

Keep in mind that there is not Broadband or wi-fi available for everyone.

I was in the Smokeys last Fall, and if if I didn't have the T-Mobile wi-fi, I would have been out of luck. But I have Sprint PCS Vision. I had to go into town, but it was cheaper than anything else at the time. .

doesnt it hurt to carry a laptop AND textbooks on one shoulder

Nope. I still have a shoulder pad from one of my other timbuk2 bag which I can also use with the commute. Except for the clashing color (as if I cared) it works like a charm.
