PowerBook G4 17" CD drive external enclosure

My cousin gave me this computer which he has opened up and distroyed it
Is it possible to convert the optical CD/DVD drive into an external drive(if I can find an enclosure for it?
And would it work on a windows based computer like a Netbook or laptop?
