I have a powerbook g4 17". The display is not working, and through much research have concluded that it is a faulty inverter board. I order new inverter board. I follow ifixit guide and youtube disassembly guide.

I manage to pry open display without too much damage and replace inverter board.

Now I cannot replace shell properly. The top edge will not sit flush with bezel though it original shape. The rest of it fits nicely and clips back.

Question- Am I an idiot?

Please don't be too insulting with your responses

I have just opened one of these

As long as you haven't damaged the clips take it off again but this time when you go to put it back on.

Start with the top edge. If you look the clips are different along the top edge of the screen. These fit downwards into the top of the screen.

Have the cover at a slight angle and engage the clips along the top then push the rest of the clips in and fit the 2 screws at the bottom

That should be it so long as you havent damaged the clips at the top.

Good luck
