I was just wondering this morning about games, does anyone else use their Powerbook for a bit of light gaming? If so what do you play?

Guess I'm looking for recommendations, as I've only ever really played games on my PM8500.

Rayman 3, Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness, Call of Duty 1-2, The Sims 2... And many others will run flawlessly on your powerbook. Maybe every game for Mac released between 2001 and 2005-6... You can find a lot of them for free on Macintoshgarden

During my teens, I was a big fan of Neverwinter Nights, and I'm happy to report it works great on my PB 1.67, it's also available easily on the garden! I'll add SimCity 4 to this list if it hasn't been already been mentioned, as well as an all-time fav; Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic!

Bobesch - I've been having a look, but having input from other users is way better than a brief description on a page. Plus there have been some suggestions I probably wouldn't have even thought of. Knights of the old Republic is a favorite of mine, I think I reached half way through that game, possibly. It was a lot of fun and playing it again sounds great, hadn't thought for a second about playing it on my PB! I should point out, mines is the 1.5Ghz variety.

I bought this laptop for design work, but gradually it's becoming a daily driver, what I can't do on it can be accomplished with my phone 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone!

Age of Empires 3 on this device? I have to see this, have liked the game since my childhood, adore strategies! Thanks for the hint!

If you are on FaceBook, join the PPC Gaming Lounge!

I game all the time on my 15" 1.5Ghz PBG4 (As well as my 12" and various other PPC macs)
Age of Empires 3 runs pretty good. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is a personal favorite.

Sims 2 will work, but is a poorly coded game. It runs just as crappy on my PB as it does my Mac Pro.

Revising this long dormant thread to ask you a question. Do you think the Powerbook G4 still can run Neverwinter Nights and connect to the perpetually online Arelith game world?

I read in their system requirements that they list a G4 Powerbook G4 as a minimum, but I was wondering if anyone ACTUALLY gets on with one of those still? I'm seriously considering setting this up on my G4 to see if I can actually get on their server and if it will work.

That would be seriously awesome!

🙂

So today I tried to connect to Arelith from a G4 Powerbook and although Neverwinter Nights on the PPC Mac saw the server, I was unable to connect...the server timed out.

Rats...I guess Arelith on the PPC Mac is a dead end.
