he wants to upgrade the memory..

Whats the highest usable amount of RAM he can get? 2 GBs?

I know there are websites out there to get Apple spec RAM,

What are the best ones?

It depends on which model he has. As far as choices go, I recommend Crucial. Plus they offer a free scanner to determine the model of PowerBook G4 for you.

I just looked this up for my pb. I suppose it does depend on the model, but mine was 2 gb, 1 gb per slot.
