I am in some serious need of help. I was using my laptop as normal... and some of the programs I had open started to freeze, I did force quit, then I shut down my computer....

Now, when i turn it on, I just hear alot of noise coming from the inside, but my computer will not go past the Grey Apple screen!

What should I do? Is there a special start up , or anything I can do? I am really desperate.

Any response is appreciated!!!!!!

BTW this is a 12" Power Book running OSX 10.3.9

UPDATE:

I just ran a Repair Disk from the OSX cd and was able to get my computer to start, but now everything is running so slow and freezing, what should i do?

Hold down -option-P-R to reset PRAM.

Could be a dead hard drive, especially if you're hearing a lot of weird sounds.

I don't think its a dead HD, at this point I have been able to get the computer to work, but everything takes forever to load, or quits.... IDK?
