PowerBook Internet Connection Problems

I have tried the following:

-wifi
-direct ethernet connection from router
-direct ISP connection via ethernet
-tethering by USB via iPhone

and in every instance I am unable to connect to the internet, but all the while I have a MBP that connects in every way.

I have run out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated!
