Powerbook shutdown and clock issues--new PRAM battery needed?

So my Powerbook will shut down sometimes on its own if I haven't used it for a bit. When I restart, I have to reset the date and time. I'm wondering if it needs a new PRAM battery (the computer is 4 years old.) Has anyone done this, and is it easy to do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like that's the problem, yeah. iFixit has instructions on the process, which looks to be pretty simple on the 15" G4 model that I peeked at, anyway. I'm not sure what you're running.
