my beloved little 12" PowerBook just took a 6 foot drop to a tile floor (don't ask) and the casing is destroyed. amazingly though, everything works! even the LCD survived. anyway it's a 1.5 Ghz and it's a decent little machine so instead of scrapping it i'm thinking of maybe just taking out the guts and making it into a little server desktop to run headless, maybe media center if i can figure out how to get it to run in clamshell mode with no LCD. i've seen most of the popular case mods out there for this type of thing but no good tutorials or tips. anyone here have any experience with this? thanks.
 
There's a magnet somewhere in the LCD bezel that lets the PB know when you closed the lid.

Presumably, you'd simulate that when you remove the guts from the casing...
