I have a 12inch powerbook that came with panther installed and is currently running Tiger. I just recently noticed that I can't boot from cds..
I have tried my original panther cds, disk warrior, and other panther/tiger cds/dvds.. They all result in this funny looking apple logo:

I've reset pram and also tried using my macbooks drive to boot from target disk mode.. All has resulted in that same logo.
I'm wanting to just wipe the drive clean and start over. Any advice?

I was able to wipe the drive while in target disk mode but am still getting the same funny logo or "no" sign.

No one has seen this?

hmm its a strange one. If you have tried resetting EVERYTHING Pram etc.. then i would suggest reinstalling from a hard drive rather than from a CD

Good Luck

Oh dear...

I've got a feeling that the Apple logo is part of the firmware that loads before Mac OS does, but I may be wrong. I'm guessing that the messed up :apple: logo appears when you try and boot normally from the internal HD, right?

Best thing to do is to show it to a Mac Genius in an Apple Store, I'd say.
