Powering a GTX 960

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has any experience powering a GTX 960 with only one 6 pin from the MP?

The card comes with a 2x6 pin to 8 pin adapter and I was wondering if it possible to just plug one 6 pin into that adapter and plug the 8 pin end into the card.
