So I finally got round to powering up my original G4, used for music production, in an attempt to connect it to my iMac but like an idiot, I forgot to switch the voltage from 120 to 230 as I’m in UK now...loud pop :(
Is there an internal fuse I can switch out or am I looking at a whole new power supply ?

depends on what power supply you've got. look inside the power supply, and if it doesn't have a fuse, you're screwed and you need a new psu. i'm sorry to hear that ;-;

you can also use an ATX power supply depending on what G4 you have. i have a sawtooth and i ended up using an HP OEM power supply from a dc5700 that's still going very strong. these older G4s aren't picky about the 5V rails either, so newer PSUs will most surely work fine.

Welcome to the human race. I made the mistake of not running a power conditioner in front of my mac many moons ago (was living downtown in an old, jenky but cool AF brick building with ancient electrical lines) and blew up the psu as well. Luckily the damage was contained to only the power supply so I was able to replace it and all was well again. Anyhow, Im unsure of your particular model but I did find this replacement "G4" PSU across the pond - UK seller for what seems to be an ok price.

I never made that mistake again. :D

best of luck to you.
