Could I get Powermac G5 10.4.2 Retore disks in Apple retail stores?
Need 1 ASAP, nothing on ebay.

I need to downgrade Powermac G5 from Leopard to 10.4.2 (the machines factory spec.)

I've got a Tiger retail disk 10.4 (not 10.4.2) that I tryed to downgrade but having a kernel panic the second the disk is put in even when booting from DVD.

No, but you can probably order from Apple over the phone, they might be able to overnight if you need them really quick.

Apple Stores don't stock those kinds of items.

If you have the very last PM G5 made ("Late 2005") it requires at least 10.4.2, and won't take an earlier 10.4 version (all earlier models of the G5 should take any 10.4 version though).

If you find a retail version of 10.4.2 or later it should work though (some later G5s of this model shipped with 10.4.4 but I think they would still run 10.4.2). There are usually some of these disks available on eBay, or here's another source:

If you go that route make sure you get a full retail version though, not install disks for a particular Mac platform.

Yeah, I have one of these Late 2005 G5s and the restore discs are 10.4.4. They would kernel panic with the 10.4.0 retail DVD, as described by OP.
