I connected my VG248QE to my Quad, and it was 60Hz at stock. I used SwitchResX to add custom resolutions of: 90Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz. The 120Hz worked and was noticeably smoother, but the 144Hz refresh rate didn't show up in System Preferences after rebooting. I then added every refresh rate in between 120Hz and 144Hz in increments of 1. Only rates up to 125Hz showed up in System Preferences. What is causing this to happen?

This sounds like an Intell question. But based on what I know (which may be wrong, I am not too familiar with video cards), the Nvidia 6600 GT is only capable of 85 Hz while the 7800 GTX is capable of 120 MHz. I may be completely wrong but that is out of memory.

I'm not overly familiar with that, but I believe Altemose is mostly correct in that your card simply card refresh the screen fast enough.

It's a rabidz7 question. And look, the moderators bad him, again.
I think that was a little less than a day. He got a little farther this time. Of course, when you reuse your fake username or one that's close to it you make yourself an easier target.

As I said in another thread…the mods aren't stupid.
