I'm looking to upgrade GPU in 2005 power-mac g5 however even though i can find many threads online talking about the subject I'm finding it hard to narrow down which cards can actually be flashed to work with the power-mac g5 or just work straight out of the box. I do know of a few that will work 100% but they all seem to be ridiculous prices on eBay. Any advice will be appreciated or maybe just send me a link to where i can find the information I'm looking for :) thank you.

What are you looking for? Nor many cards for those machines...Best is a Quadro 4500. Then 7800GT or X1900
thankyou for your reply i am aware of those cards but the only g5 compatible quadro 4500 on ebay is a crazy amount and i cant find the g5 x1900 anywhere and its the the ame really for the 7800 gt , so what really i am looking for is info on what cards can be flashed successfully to work with the g5 becasue all the "apple" cards prices are ridiculous.

Unless you're a gamer these high end cards are a false economy - all they add is better framerates for games.
yeah thats why i want the upgrade for the old games you can run on these things like halo etc. sorry i probably should have mentioned that in first place thankyou for your reply

I think the 7800GT is optimal for your needs then...well, apart from the price...my Mac Pro 1,1 was cheaper than any of these cards!
i have the mac pro 1,1 and although its more powerful i just like using powermac more but if i cant get a card for a reasonable price then i might switch to it

I believe Nathan Hill (on G5 Center) once mentioned that he never noticed any difference going from his 6600 to a 7800GT, even in games.

Putting that out there...

Certainly no diffierence when I went from the 6600 to the Quadro 4500 - and I did real world benchmarks to confirm (but not including games.) I returned immediately to the 6600 as the Quadro had the additional irritation of an extra fan spinning away.
