So after trying all the suggestions turns out that the Dvi-vga adapter i was using had all the analog pins snapped off, not sure how this happened, maybe i lent it to somebody who used it in the wrong slot? But after buying a new one it now shows the No OS icon. Time to hunt down a spare hard drive and get this thing running. Sorry to everyone who wanted parts :D

'Snapped all the alalog pins off" I think what you got there is a digital-only adapter if exactly all the analog pins are missing.

A "digital-only" DVI to VGA adapter. Explain to me how that is even possible.

I was wondering that also, but a "Wiki" search comes up with this...

"The interface is designed to transmit uncompressed digital video and can be configured to support multiple modes such as DVI-D (digital only), DVI-A (analog only), or DVI-I (digital and analog)."

So who knows?

Forget my previous post please,
For some reason I was thinking Connector when I should have been thinking "Adapter" or even better "Converter"
