Cool.

You got it working yet?
I really all depends on how easy you flash the ROM code, I presume.

If it's easy and had a near 100% chance of working correctly, then it seriously is the best option for getting a fast 512 MB VRAM card in a PCI-E G5.
If it's alot of work, and there's a reasonable chance of screwing the card making it worthless for Mac and PC... well....

Very nice! Unfortunately, the Strangedogs-modded 7800s are hard to come by - the member who was performing the mods hasn't been around for months, and the modded ROM has not been made publicly available.

Still, for those who have one it is a great card. And for those who don't, there is now (finally) a retail option for Quad owners - the Radeon X1900XT G5 Mac Edition, which is also a great card.

Remember that's the X1900 GT card....

Graphic Features:
Radeon X1900 GT graphics processing unit

Memory Configuration:
256MB GDDR3 memory
256-bit memory interface

I wouldn't call it a gr8 card, but a good card. Comparable the BTO 7800 GT.

I wish the XT card were available...

LOL, it's great because ATI finally got off their butts and made the thing available. ;)

Actually, the performance is pretty good. It gets spanked by the 7800GTX 512MB, but it will outrun any other 7800 series card. Plus, if it responds well to overclocking you may very well be able to run it at X1900XT speeds (with a new heatsink/fan).

Still, I wish they had chosen the X1900XTX (or at least the X1900XT) instead of the X1900GT.

According to Barefeats there isn't alot of difference between the two "GT" (Gin & Tonic) cards for the PCI-E G5's.
But as you rightly said, you could overclock the X1900 making it slightly the better card.

The X1900 XTX would have been so very welcome indeed...

Leopard Freeze with ATI X1900 XT

If you own a PowerMac G5 (not Mac Pro) with an ATI X1900 XT graphics card, DO NOT install Leopard. System Freezes, blue horizontal lines on any monitor connected to the card. Both ATI and Apple wash their hands of the issue.

10.5.1 and 10.5.2 offer no solution. Stick with 10.4
