hi guys,

Think I may have solved this one now just by thinking of it- but always good to air it out and see what other views are in case I've missed something.

The Mac is failing POST after I've put in two 1gb ram sticks. I put the old ram back in, and it works. Here's the odd part - there are three 256mb sticks and only two work. But it also failed POST without the dodgy one installed?

As to the new RAM it might not be the right type correct?

Gonna check now if I meant to order PC3200 and ordered something else, that fits

Any other input to this issue will be great!

You mention there are 3 memory sticks, which has me slightly confused as the memory in a G5 has to be installed in pairs as shown in this video.

An unpaired stick will not register-they must be paired.

Additionally, be sure you are pairing the sticks correctly. If you look at the logic board, you should see an "upper" and "lower" RAM bank. The two innermost slots are paired, and build out from these with your matched pairs.
