What is the Best Video card I can use in my 2.5 Ghz June 2004 Powermac G5

The best Mac Editions are the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL and the ATI X800/X850.

will it work on my version are they all compatable I haven't done much research into videocards for the G5

If you're on the cheaper side of things, a 256MB ATi Radeon 9650 from a early 2005 G5 is more than adequate for pushing many pixels and general usage.

Basically any G5 AGP video card will work in that machine. You just need to avoid PCIe and G4 ADC video cards.

also my problem was that I got 2 g5s for free bought new harddrive and ram all they need I fixed 1 turned it on it had the blinking folder like normal but after a week I still had chimes but I booted to a black screen I thought the video card failed what do you guys think 😕

Try putting the video card from the good G5 into the one that you suspect to have a dead video card. Good way to test.

I tend to forget that card's model, thus I only post about the Mac Editions. Doesn't that card sometimes present problems if the wrong version is flashed?

the 7800gs is the best agp card for the agp PM.. that or the x850/800 🙂
