I ran a few benchmarks on my Powermac 2.7 and my friends 2.3, and to my surprise, my friends 2.3 outperformed mine. Although mine has 3 GB more mem as well as .4ghz faster, it underperformed my friends.

The reason is because my HD scored a 49 in Xbench and his scored a 102.

I have noticed that my hard drive has been lagging. Is there a way to convince apple that my hard drive is faulty?

There are a lot of factors to consider, not just the hard drive. Which 2.3 Ghz system does your friend have? The 970FX based one or the dual core 970MP one?

If it's the latter, that system had faster subsystems in it, faster RAM, faster processors. Even though they are both 1.5Gbps SATA, there were speedbumps to the performance I believe.

Lastly, it could just be the drive. Different manufacturers have different performance, so you may want to look into that instead of pestering Apple (they don't ship any 16MB cache drives for example).
