Anyone know of a place in Texas, preferably Houston, that resales powermac G4’s? I really don’t want to do eBay and pay a bunch for shipping and Craigslist doesn’t really seem to have many lately. Thanks!
Thanks! I will see if I can find one. I had a G4 MDD a long time ago. I miss that thing.I would check around to see if there are any electronics recyclers in your area. Sometimes they'll sell computers, but it depends on the place. Where I live, we have a shop that sells various computer parts and electronic components, and they sometimes have full systems. Little spots like that can sometimes be a good place to check if all the local used websites are dry.
Thanks! I will check it out. There's a Goodwill Computer Store on 59 and Gessner. I haven't been there lately, but they usually have a Quicksilver or D.A. sitting around.

Dang no luck yesterday. Maybe I will check there on a weekly basis. Also the recycle place in sugar land says they do not sell, only buy. There's a Goodwill Computer Store on 59 and Gessner. I haven't been there lately, but they usually have a Quicksilver or D.A. sitting around.

They finally had something I wanted. Got a g4 FW800 1.25ghz x2 from here. $18. No ram, graphics card, or hard drive. Put all that in along with AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth (had some parts from a long time ago). Everything works except speaker is visibly cracked and has low volume. I’ll replace later. Now just need an old cinema adc display and some pro speakers. There is a g4 digital audio (I think), a 1ghz x2 MDD, and it looked like 2 iMac G5’s still there as well. There's a Goodwill Computer Store on 59 and Gessner. Looked like it was in pretty good shape. No ram, hard drive or graphics card. Priced at $25. Yesterday they had 30% off. I think they have these specials through Christmas. There is an old ADC display there too but the connector looks pretty beat up so I didn’t get it.Nice! I may have to go over there and snag that first-gen MDD
Stopped by that goodwill today. They had 3 quick silvers and 5 digital audios, an eMac and a g3 iMac! I picked up 2 of the quick silvers. Have no idea what to do with them. Will probably give one back to goodwill after I salvage some parts. They were all $15 each.Nice! I may have to go over there and snag that first-gen MDD
Better hurry they seem to go pretty quick! There was only 1 eMac. Looked like it was in ok shape. I was more interested in the powermacs so didn’t really pay much attention to it.I'm going to be right around the corner from there tomorrow. Gonna get me an eMac!
Picked up my first Mac mini G4 today. Bunch of G5’s and cinema displays left.

This is at the goodwill computer works on Gessner in Houston. Not all of them have the “computer works”. There are only 2 in Houston, and the north side one never has any Mac stuff. I stop in here about once every other week. I have scored 2 quicksilver, an MDD, and a Mac mini now. I don’t really want an iMac unless it is a G4 in good shape, but those G5’s looked ok. There was a lot of first gen Apple TVs as well, which I may have to go back and get one so I can have a hard drive to put in the mini.Is that store-specific, or would all Goodwill locations have a room like that?
And a better question, how would one get there?
That's awesome. I went to a Goodwill in Florida when I was down there a few years ago that had a similar area. Not much Apple stuff when I was there, but I talked with the guy working there and it seemed like it was a flourishing business there. Lots of people came in for tech questions and to find random pieces of tech they needed. How were the prices? This is at the goodwill computer works on Gessner in Houston. The Mac mini we’re going for $15-25 and the iMac G5’s are $29. I pad $25 for the mini, it is a 1.42ghz and was the prettiest one, but sadly did not include WiFi or Bluetooth. The powermac I bought there a while back were $17, but don’t include graphics or memory. That's awesome. I went to a Goodwill in Florida when I was down there a few years ago that had a similar area. Yeah it’s great but I have probably been to the store about 20 times now. Most of the time there is no macs at all. Luckily it is on my way to work so I. An just stop in for a few minutes and see what they have. This place sounds like complete and total heaven.
I envy you!
