I need a new computer I have a Quicksilver G4 733MHz and Its getting a bit tired. I was leaning to the PowerBooks but I have taken a real liking to the PowerMac G5. I am a Full time college student and a part time desktop publisher/consultant. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If your in college i would reccomend the 17" pwoerbook, although many people consider this too large for a laptop, its extremely beautiful (get it with education discount and it will be a bit cheaper)

On the other hand the G5 (which is what im getting) is "faster than a speeding bullet." If you really need the power, and the g5 has LOTS of it....the go ahead and get it. Mind you it wount be nearly as portable as the laptop nor as sexy in my opinion. But the deciding factor for me was....the G5 is so so so much faster than the g4 (167 mhz bus vs 1ghz bus) i choose g5. Its not even a question in my head

well i wish you the best of luck with your decision and computer buying experience. :)

your quicksilver is still a good machine. maybe look at a 12 inch powerbook for 1400 now with the edu discount, then you could keep your powermac and have a powerbook for the same as a 17inch powerbook. As for the question powerbook or powermac, if i couldnt have both definetly powerbook. Speed is over rated, my powermac is faster but because i can use the powerbook everywhere its more productive. Personal taste i guess.
