I am going to test it more when I am done with my shift at work.

If you can somehow get it to start. See what it says in System Profiler under Diagnostics.

I actually just got done working on an MDD, that I think the Logic Board is failing. It would freeze randomly, so originally I thought there was bad CPU paste... I replaced it with fresh paste (Arctic Silver Ceramique 2) that I got from Radio Shack. It was a little more affordable than the Arctic Silver 5.

Anyhow, if I close the door on the side even slightly it shuts off. It also fails start up because of the RAM slots failing. I got three working so far.

Check out the RAM situation, as that caused the G4 not to pass startup tests (POST) and fail to chime. I think this G4's Logic Board is done though.

Yeah but the computer will boot up and start to try to load the OS. I would see the apple logo but then it would show a circle with a line through it.

Try starting in Verbose Mode by hitting CMD V and see where it hangs. Also try booting in Safe Mode from a known working install on a good hard drive.

Geez, if I lived close to there, I'd would've stolen er bought everything. I have an odd love for PowerBooks.

Wow, that is a goldmine, sensible prices too. I'd love to be there with a couple of hundred pound to spend and my screwdriver set.

It's set my geeky spine tingling!

Yeah I am very happy with this place. I am going to make one final visit next week to pick up a newer PowerMac G5 that uses the faster ram. He said he would sell me a complete working one for $50. After that I will have 4 G5's... Lol

Most likely. They would probably all come with 3 GB of ram, 80-160gb drives, and have leopard installed with iLife & iWork. The newer one I would be keeping for myself. Also, they will all come with studio monitors.

How much are you looking for them? Those are some fantastic systems you got there then!

Not sure yet. Maybe $90 without a monitor and $100 with one. They are probably going up on CL soon. I just have to get the one trouble one working...
