PowerPC Mac Mini G4 1.25GHz

I've got a PPC Mac Mini G4 which I've owned from new, for the last few years it's been sat in a drawer and not been used.

Does anyone have any suggestions what it could be used for these days?

It's got 512MB RAM, but that's the only upgrade it's ever had.

Could try putting v11 of XBMC on it as a media server hooked to your TV but no HD and would need more RAM. Can use an iPad, iPhone or Android with the XBMC app to control it.
Else a web browsing/email station somewhere in the house...iTunes server using the Remote app to control if you fitted some nice speakers...

Personally, I'd use it as a little home server. Minis are great for sticking somewhere and forgetting about them 🙂

I'm in a similar situation, I wan't to make use of the old mini somehow...

There are basically two things I can think of in my case -
a) Connect it to a flatscreen TV or a monitor and use it as a DVD player.
b) Use it as a fax server if you have a landline and need to send/receive the occasional fax.

The first option is not so useful anymore, unfortunately, and in the last ten years or so I've only had to telefax one measly page... All other uses I've managed to come up with so far are already covered using other devices.

I should have mentioned, I already have an HP MicroServer and numerous WDTV Live's scattered around the house.

I think it'll probably end up staying in the drawer.

Also got a G3 iMac, which I can't see myself ever having a use for!

Well, it can always be used as a paperweight...
