We just had a power surge at work. My co workers Silver G4 running
OS 10.2.8 starts up but the finder keeps quiting and the mouse is frozen. We have restarted and shut down twice but still no luck. Any suggestions

Thanks

Mouse works now. But it gives a launch error. The dock works but finder keeps crashing. Can't access the hard drive.

This won't really help but this is my only experience of such a thing:
I was in the university's library one evening (near exam time), and there was a power cut. I'd been using my Powerbook to look up stuff on the 'net when the power failure happened - obviously my PB kept going, but the internet connection died. I'd had the computer plugged in, since the battery was running low (I'd been using it earlier). After a while the power came on, all of a sudden...

I was happy that the power was back on, but at the same time confused when my PB started going mental - in that I couldn't open any programs... I just constantly got the spinning wheel of death. Eventually I had to take out the battery and restart to make it go away! After that it was 100% fine and I've had no problems whatsoever. Perhaps it wa a coincidence, but given the proximity of the events, I doubt it.

Besides the PRAM...

Could some of the catalog/file system -- need to run Disk Ulitity and fsck -y to check them out, unix really needs to be shut down gracefully (turning it off suddenly could mean stuff didn't finish writing.)
