Hey all, I've booted up my Mini G4 and encountered this well known error:

I replaced the CR2032 battery, let the Mini connect to Apple's servers to set the time and date and thought that the problem was solved. It was not: unless the Mini is left connected to the mains when shut down and/or connected to the Internet at boot, the error message returns.

To troubleshoot, I checked the most obvious user errors: such as the battery being installed the wrong way round and zapping the PRAM with Command, Option, P and R but this has made no difference. Is there something that I've missed or does the logic board have some kind of issue that is preventing the time and date from being retained by the computer without Internet access or a mains connection?

Can you confirm the voltage on the replacement CR2032 is at least 3V? Also, try cleaning the battery contacts with isopropyl alcohol in case the old battery caused some light corrosion.

This is the pack that I purchased. As you can see, the voltage is listed on the packaging and the batteries is definitely 3V.

I'll disassemble the Mini again and apply some isopropyl alcohol and see what happens.
