Thanks, I was wondering the same thing.

Does anyone know (historically speaking) if choosing pickup vs delivery makes a difference in getting a launch day device? Like, are you more or less likely to get it on launch day by picking one over the other?

The thing is, when seconds count, you should just go with the default option which is ship to your home address.
