Pre Intel iMac Disk Drive issues

My iMac will no longer recognize any disks I put into it, any suggestions as to how I might rectify this situation?

Perhaps you could replace the optical drive...

Is it a first gen 1.6-2.0ghz or an isight version 1.9-2.1ghz?

And is it a superdrive or combo drive?

Thank you, it is a 2.1

It is a DVD/CD player and burner, does that make it a Superdrive??
