In the whole debacle that is AT&T and their pricing practices I have a question. I Pre-ordered my iPhone 3GS yesterday through the Apple store (thanks in part to the kind person that posted the SMS deletion fix), but when I got my confirmation email I noticed something strange. I paid for the 199 iPhone, the $16 shipping charge (crossing my fingers that 1 day shipping means it will come early) and $55.41 in tax. Now where the heck are they getting that much tax from? I tried multiplying the $30 data plan by 12 and 24 months then adding the $199 for the phone and still it does not make sense. Where did they get this figure from?? Any Ideas??😕

I think there is some accounting thing where they have to charge tax based on the original price of the device. So tax on $599 or whatever.

its funny how you paid for the shipping charge when i thought its free shipping and when i tried to do it it asked me to pay for activation charge and upgrade fee!!!
