Hello.

I am from Denmark, where we won't be able to get the Apple Watch in first release wave.

Luckely I am going on vacation in the UK in May, and the US in June.

My question is, will it be possible for a foreigner, with no permanet address in any of those countries, to preorder an apple watch on the 10th april, and pick It up from an apple Store a month later :) ?

Most likely not, if they do it like most pickup orders they only hold it for a week before it's put back on the shelf and the sale canceled.

well that's a bummer :p

Then i can only hope they won't sell out to quickly.

If the pre-order has already been PAID FOR, why would Apple cancel out a sale and put it back on the shelf?

I would guess that a PAID FOR pre-order would still be at the Apple Store. I think Apple would contact the person after a week if it's not picked up, and then arrangements can be made to hold it.

I think it still would be okay, just call the Apple Store and tell them something else like 'I'm on vacation in Denmark until June, can I pick it up when I get back from vacation?'

Do you not have someone in a country that is getting the first wave that you could have it sent to?

Hmmmm. That would have been easier if I did know somebody in either UK or US. But sadly for me, I don't :( I just have to wait and hope the watch combination I want isn't sold out. Fingers crossed. :)

From what i have read, it won't be possible to do a "pickup purchase" from a Apple store. At least not the first couple of months. Is there any truth to this?

I was Just wondering if I won't be able to walk directly into a apple store in UK or US, and buy a watch?

Well hopefully by May and June a person would be able to just walk into an Apple Store and buy one.

Sure hope so :) Then i hope they are not completely sold out at that time

I am quite confused at the moment. I contacted apple support via chat to enquire about making a reservation to try on the apple watch on the 10th April 2015 and was told that there was no special system to reserve an appointment. The Apple representative then created me a Genius bar appointment to try on the Apple watch and told me there would be no issue in me trying on the apple watch with this reservation.

It doesn't sound right to me but I have the chat transcript printed out as proof when I arrive for my appointment on Friday and they decide to knock me back

Generally the US site needs a US credit or debit card to place an order. You might look into getting a prepaid debit card from American Express or a large Visa/Mastercard issuer like Chase or Wells Fargo. The UK might be easier because it is part of the EU like Denmark.

What might be better is to look into the site in the weeks before your trip and try to book a personal reservation (not a try-on appointment) for when you are in one of those countries.

I also live in Denmark and have previously bought several things online from the US Apple Store. And it always works with a Danish credit card.

OP: I don't know about how it works in the UK but if you wait until you get to the States before you get the watch, you could just order it online 2-5 weeks before and use the address of where you are staying. That should work for in store pick-up

I don't know why but that's what I've been told by Apple about an online purchase if you don't pick it up within a week it's canceled and the item returned to their stock.
